British Design Innovation (BDI) is the
trade
organisation for leading industrial designers, service designers and
innovation professionals that promotes members' creative expertise,
knowledge and experience.
Knowledge and relationships are valuable. Our member companies – and importantly the Directors of those member companies – are highly-experienced leaders. All have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in their areas of expertise and many have considerably more.
BDI HQ facilitates both member-to-member contact and engagement between its members and third parties, and welcomes collaborative approaches from third party organisations seeking to engage with us and our members.
Engagement through the BDI portal www.britishdesigninnovation.org is easy and is supported by BDI engagement templates and Best Practice tools, to ensure that the needs and expectations of all parties are understood from the outset under conditions of strict confidentiality. Additionally, BDI is available to brand owners who require tailored Open Innovation Challenges™ and other collaborative innovation initiatives.
BDI also facilitates engagement via a wide range of matchmaking and advisory services such as open innovation activities, Originators’ proposition evaluations, business to business events, mentoring, workshop facilitation, awards judging and media and public speaking engagements. This document details those engagements and supports them with best practice templates that enable users to complete and submit them to BDI. We respond with appropriate recommendations by return (in some instances BDI applies a booking fee; these are transparent and clearly indicated in advance).

Our Innovation Filter© enables you to download and complete our 3 Minute Pitch and Proposition Pitch templates and submit them to info@britishdesigninnovation.org (must be submitted as a pair).
Design and innovation directors of sector-specific BDI member companies are selected to evaluate your propositions under conditions of strict confidentiality and offer appropriate feedback and support in order to move you on to the next stage.
