Hovis Support Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal

Hovis Seed Sensations supports the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal
Wednesday, 28 October 2009
Hovis, Premier Foods' bread brand, is continuing its long tradition of good deeds by supporting The Royal British Legion's annual Poppy Appeal with the target of raising £100,000.

4p from every special bag of Hovis Seed Sensations bread and rolls sold between 15th October and 11th November will be donated to the Poppy Appeal.

Jon Goldstone, Marketing Director at Hovis, says, "The Poppy Appeal is a very important cause and is close to the hearts of the British public.

"Hovis has a history of supporting the armed forces, even donating a Spitfire to the World War Two effort. We hope to raise £100,000 for the armed forces and their families, who are so deserving of our support."

The Poppy Appeal promotion will be supported by TV and press advertising, and will benefit from in-store support. The TV advertising launches on 2nd November for one week with David Jason doing the voiceover. Many of those involved in the production have donated their time for free to help support the cause.

"The Food Network is a very good source for 'objective' advice on all sorts of business related issues, food and non-food — we have, for example, had recommendations of food photographers, web-site designers, transport companies, accountants, very useful PR/Marketing advice, technical issues relating to the food industry etc — there is a sense of comfort/solidarity knowing that there are others facing the same problems/experiences as you and it is great that everybody seems so friendly and open to help others."
