Fresh, seasonal British produce promotions in Portobello & Golborne Rd markets
Mark Atkinson , Markets Development Officer in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has been working with Business Development Managers at New Covent Garden, Western International, and New Spitalfields to develop a quarterly series of events in Portobello and Golborne Road markets focusing on promotion of fresh, seasonal British produce.
At the last event, the Festival of British Roots over Friday and Saturday, 29-30 January, we did cookery demonstrations and gave away free sample tastes from market stalls. I’ve got an event coming up over Friday and Saturday, 7-8 May (spring veg), and could certainly use some help in various aspects from programming to getting the word out, as a chef who was helping me develop the programme has left the project.
We are seeking the input and assistance of potential partners and participants! Future events are scheduled for July (berries and cherries) and October (apples) . Please contact:   Mark.Atkinson@rbkc.gov.uk
